Mr. Shamahmood Miakhel is the Country Director for Afghanistan programs of United States Institute of Peace since 2009. Mr. Miakhel served as Senior Advisor/Deputy Minister of interior of Afghanistan (2003-2005). He has published several books in Pashto language and many articles on governance and security situation of Afghanistan in English. Mr. Miakhel has B.A and MA in Political Science and an executive M.B.A. He completed a fellowship program on Democracy, Development and Rule of Law at Stanford University in 2006 and also completed fellowship on Executive Leadership Program in Harvard, Kennedy School of Government and NDU (National Defense University) in the US
